Contingent Messages – 7th Aug

These will be the last messages that we can send and receive, before we arrive back in the UK. We leave the site in the early hours on Monday, and simply won’t have time on Tuesday and Wednesday with two very busy days in Disneyland and Tokyo.

Havin a great time here in japan, just arrived at final youth hostil thing, its really posh, and goin to tokyo disney 2moz. had a great time at jambo and homestay. lookin forward to comin home to see you all but dont wont to leave, the weather is absolutely boiling. mum and dad, did u go to art gallery to see my work? if so was the reception thingy it good and did i miss much?

Contingent Messages – 4th Aug

The Jamboree is in full swing, and consequently there will be a small delay in relaying messages between the site, and the Explorers (and Leaders). This is because everyone is off doing activities at various corners of the site, and due to the size of the site, we can’t always make it round to everyone.

Contingent Messages 1st Aug

Contingent Messages return!

Firstly, please let me apologise for the lack of messages from Fire Troop (I know, I know, it’s not a consipracy, honest.), we simply ran out of time to get their messages. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we’ve spent the day setting up the campsite. Tomorrow we will hit Fire Troop first, so that they can send messages home.

We’re off to our Ho-Ho hosts today. Therefore these will be the last messages posted until at least 2nd August when we hit the Jamboree site.

Troop Messages 27th July

Due to the overwhelming response to our request for messages from the contingent (no really, we only had to twist a couple of arms), we’re a little behind in putting them on the site. To make it easy for you, we’ve split the messages into Troops. Some leaders have also sent messages home, those messages are on the relevant troop page. Except for Core Team Leaders, whose messages are below;

Hi to Mum, Dad, Julian, Sonia, Jessica, Sam, Abigail, Paul, Asako, Erika and Emma
The camp is going well and the Explorers are coping well with the heat and food. The weather has been good with temperatures over 35 degrees bringing some spectacular thunder and lightning in late afternoon. Up in the mountains of Nagano has worked very well so everyone has recovered from jet lag and adjusted to Japanese time and temperatures.
We leave on Friday to the Kyoto and Shiga area for homestay with a Japanese family and then we enter the Jamboree camp on 1st August.
Paul and Asako – Nagano is just as I remember it from when we stayed here years ago. The American house is great and the staff have been incredibly helpful. It’s just a pity that you’re not here to share it this time.
Jess, Abi and Sam – looking forward to buying you ice creams in the Lake District !
Erika and Emma – Hope school is fun in South Africa.

Already lots of stories to tell as our adventure continues into week 2.

Troop Updates

Wind Troop
Today Wind Troop kicked off the camp bases with camp Olympics in training for the championship on Thursday between all groups. Events included basketball, volleyball, football, balance beam, a chopstick challenge and a boat race. We already have some clear contenders for bragging rights so the other troops need to watch out!!!

Fire Troop
Fire took part in “The Troop Challenge” were they had to solve a series of problems, questions and clues so they could progress to the next stage of the game.

Earth Troop
Earth took part on a hike into the local village to experience Japanese culture up close and personal. The trip included a 40 min mountain hike to the rural village, where they got to see many interesting things including local bugs, buildings and Buddha’s. Only downside was the lack of open shops on a Sunday, however the two shops that were open more than compensated for this in generosity with gifts of sweets and drinks of Green Tea.

Water Troop
Water spent the morning on the Mini Golf Course, with an inter-patrol competition. The afternoon saw some song practice, followed by Team Games.
