Alcohol and smoking is not permitted under age of 20 in Japan.
I have received some more information about the camp in relation to smoking. At the training camp last weekend we stated that there would be designated areas for those of you who smoke. Unfortunately, the law on smoking in Japan is the same as for alcohol in that you have to be 20yrs old. Therefore, there will be no smoking permitted on the Jamboree and no smoking at all whilst we are in Japan. For those who feel that this is going to be an issue, I suggest you visit your GP before we go and ask about nicotine replacement therapy, but remember, it must be prescribed for you to be able to take it into the country.
Here is the list of essential toiletries that were discussed on base 3 (with Liz and Maureen):
small bottle of hand sanitizer
Wet ones travel pack
small packs of tissues
travel toilet roll – save the tokens for Maureen
insect repellant containing DEET
after bite stick (containing amonia)
sun cream at least factor 15
lip balm containing sunscreen
diaoralyte sachets 1 box of 10 sachets
Travel Wash
Worth bearing in mind that at the time of posting, Boots are doing a number of BOGOF deals, and 3 for 2 offers on various holiday/travel related products.
Here are the lesson notes from the Japanese Classes that we have been running.
