Sorry I haven’t updated the blog for a while, I didn’t have the time (or effort) to get to the laptop.
Today we went up Mt. Fuji but I had to stop some way up because my blood pressure issue was going a bit crazy.
During home-stay temperatures reached around 42 degrees so that was hell but I am used to the weather now

lots of love, Fraggle.

Watashi wa Ryan and I am a scottish leader from the 83rd Fife Explorer Group (http://www.83rdscouts.org.uk). This is my second Nippon Jamboree after being a participant in 2006. The Nippon Jamboree is a great experience to meet new people and learn about different cultures. This year we have taken 28 scouts ranging from 15-19 and have 5 leaders.
Prior to the Jamboree i was a subcamp leader at the Scottish Patrol Jamborette for 2 weeks. I left at 9pm on the Friday and left Scotland at 6am on the Saturday morning! Our flight was very smooth except for 2 patches of turbulence.
After the jamboree we are travelling to Morioka for a period of home hospitality and then on to Tokyo for sightseeing.
The Jamboree has allowed me to meet new friends and continue to build on my network of scouts from across the world. It has also allowed me to meet old friends from previous jamborees.

and so the celebrity craze goes on with every member of the troop still being hunted for autographs, pictures and genral swaps (still loving it ). Recently i had to fight off a ant invasion from my main bag and now have a unreasonable hatred towards ants after spending hours picking them out. Yesterday mount fuji came into full view and it was completely awe inspiring also as darkness fell the stars came out and the sky was absoloutley beautiful nothing like I have seen in england, shooting stars also spead across the sky and it was genrally an incredible night. Today we have just been told that we do not have to perform our song (thankfully) as the scots have taken our spot remind me to thank them later :) also id just like to take this oppurtunity to say hello to my parents who must really be enjoying there time without me :P

2 posts in 2 days! i am quite honestly on a roll. Anyway, we’ll start at mt. fuji, absolutely gorgeous is quite possibly the best way i can think to describe it, i have never seen such a breathtaking sight in my entire life especially since it was followed by looking at the stars for a good hour and then a beautiful nights sleep. The morning was abit iffy as the entire troop woke up at 5 having missed the all important peace bell and my troop was greated by the fact that we had to make an entire breakfast out of cornflour and water….. we failed…. good times. Anyway, must shoot off, bysey bye.

I hope that you got the e-mail I sent to you from homestay explainng that every is alright. Oh by the way I’ve arrived at the Jamboree and it’s fantastic. For the first few days Mount Fuji was blocked by clouds and stuff but luckily yesterday morning the whole mountain was visible. I got some great pictures! I’m sad to here about Henblas, was James upset. By the way how many fish did you catch? I’ve swapped all the badges and got a load of awesome woggles. Ours are all rubbish compared to the Japanese. They have robots and Pokemon! Send me a message as soon as you get this. (And try to give me a hint what you want as a gift)
See ya soon, triple explanation mark, smiley face.

today we treckked up mt fuji due to timing restrictions we couldnt make it to the top but we did make it to the 6th base the treck up to 6th base was really hard work due to the slopes being mainly scree it was along the lines of two steps forward was one step back however the view from the base was amazing. after a quick refuel at the base it was time to head down and what was a 4 hour treck up to the base was quickly turned into a 20 minute run down the scree it was amazing and I really enjoyed it. I only managed to deck it twice and one of those personally i would describe as missing a hill and falling with style :) hopefully there has been a video posted of my attempt at scree running and my falling with style taken by me as I was running and you can form you own opinion ;)

Hope these pics are good you’re seeing because half the time i don’t even realise they’re being taken! I have some lovely tan lines to show you, you’re just going to laugh and if its not at that then it will either be at the state i look or me falling asleep in my dinner again…everythings so overwhelming its actually unbelievable! Home stay was amazing…the family me and Beth stayed with were lovely, they even gave us a copy of photos and some other fantastic gifts – and well Mount Fuji, what can i say it was breath-taking – how often is it you get to say you’ve done something like that!
Write Back, speak soon…

hello, im having a great time in japan and the jamboree. I have had a great time staying with my japanese family in kobe, they took us on a cruise and to a water park. The only bad thing so far for me was on the second night of the jamboree a mini tycoon hit and two of fire troops tents were washed out, including mine so all my stuff got wet, but it’s dry now and im having an amazing time!

Harry J Fire Troop
Hi, im having and amazing time in Japan so far. The jamboree is very good and so was homestay. I hope it doesnt rain again because some of my stuff got wet. I think i am going to have a great time in Chiba next week.

Hi Robert, Neil, Philip and Alex
Thanks for your message. I am still having a great time. The Jamboree is fantastic, even though we got washed out the second night! Looking forward to seeing you all soon, but not too soon!!

Today fire troop walked up mount fuji. Our first views of the mountain were blocked by clouds until we arrived about halfway and realised how high up we actually were. The hike up was hard but when we reached the top it was all worth it though we couldnt really see much. We all ran down the the mountain – there were a few falls, cuts and bruises but no one could stop laughing.
Rocks in shoes, pain in thighs and watching people faceplant down a volcano. Todays walk was both challenging, annoying and hilarious at the same time. the highlight of which was arguing with a very stubborn (not very clever) aussie who refused to accept that england was clearly the better country even though they are rubbish at all sports.
the thick mist that stopped us seeing anything whatsoever luckily cleared while we were at the top. annoyingly that stubborn aussie was there yet again waiting for us telling us to hurry up…quickly followed by comebacks around the subject of convicts. (her funniest comment was the idea that the engish cannot catch which obviously isnt true! (various rugby world cups and several ashes!). the views from the top of fuji were well worth the climb and the sprint down was even better (as jordan mentioned chinese people faceplanting a volcano!). overall we had a great, although rather dusty, day. all thats left is a campfire with the yanks!
from Alexandra, Jordan and Dan.

today fire walked up mount fuji. we took a coach at 7:15 to about half way up at about 2000 feet. we then walked up the south face of the volcano. going up felt like you were on a treadmill half the time your feet just slipped down and you got now where. this made the walk up difficult but we manged it in the end and ate lunch ridge by the crater of the volcano.
